Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her songs. She was also the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were spent in London in London and New Delhi. When she was only 13, her first show at New Delhi took place. When she moved to Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded a high-school degree. Anouskha is still a young woman, but she has a very amazing career in singing and recording. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has been doing so for quite a number of years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her debut single album. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. She also acted on film in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. When she was 9, she started studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka gained numerous valuable experience when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and performing with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
